Forage here

What Rutland makes and what that means for you.

Mixed country: heavy arable across the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire ground gives good straw supply, while the grazing land in the west and around the Wolds makes meadow hay and haylage. Both are usually available without going far.

Being mixed-farming country, most producers here can quote for hay and straw together, which is worth asking about, since one delivery beats two. Big square bales dominate, so check your access and how you’ll handle them before ordering.

Common questions

Rutland, answered.

Can you supply hay in Rutland?
Yes: we match hay, straw and haylage enquiries with suppliers across Rutland. Tell us the forage type, quantity and how you’d like it delivered or collected, and we’ll connect you with someone local who has it.
What types can I get?
Meadow and seed hay, barley and wheat straw, and haylage, in big square or round bales, or conventional small bales, by the load or the trailer-full.
How much does it cost?
Price depends on the forage type, bale size, quantity and distance, and it’s agreed directly with the supplier. Send an enquiry and we’ll come back with options, no obligation.
