Forage here

What Northumberland makes and what that means for you.

Upland and coastal-plain farming side by side. The hill ground carries stock and makes haylage; the better arable land along the coast and down towards the Tees produces cereal straw. The season starts later and finishes earlier than it does in the south.

The narrower window means forage is worth committing to early: supply is real but it isn’t endless, and a late buyer in a wet year is competing with everyone else. Straw from the coastal ground travels inland easily.

Common questions

Northumberland, answered.

Can you supply hay in Northumberland?
Yes: we match hay, straw and haylage enquiries with suppliers across Northumberland. Tell us the forage type, quantity and how you’d like it delivered or collected, and we’ll connect you with someone local who has it.
What types can I get?
Meadow and seed hay, barley and wheat straw, and haylage, in big square or round bales, or conventional small bales, by the load or the trailer-full.
How much does it cost?
Price depends on the forage type, bale size, quantity and distance, and it’s agreed directly with the supplier. Send an enquiry and we’ll come back with options, no obligation.
