Forage here

What Hampshire makes and what that means for you.

Chalk downland that dries early and a very large horse population in the same place: Hampshire both makes good meadow hay and consumes an enormous amount of it. Straw comes off the arable ground across the north and east of the county.

Small conventional bales are easier to find here than in most regions, which matters if you’re hand-carrying into a stable rather than tipping big bales with a loader. Demand is heavy from late summer, so buying a winter’s worth early usually beats buying it in February.

Common questions

Hampshire, answered.

Can you supply hay in Hampshire?
Yes: we match hay, straw and haylage enquiries with suppliers across Hampshire. Tell us the forage type, quantity and how you’d like it delivered or collected, and we’ll connect you with someone local who has it.
What types can I get?
Meadow and seed hay, barley and wheat straw, and haylage, in big square or round bales, or conventional small bales, by the load or the trailer-full.
How much does it cost?
Price depends on the forage type, bale size, quantity and distance, and it’s agreed directly with the supplier. Send an enquiry and we’ll come back with options, no obligation.
